On the other hand, their juice bar provides vibrant, nutrient-dense options, often featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients, catering perfectly to health-conscious patrons seeking natural energy and refreshment. This versatility ensures repeat business throughout the week.
In essence, Soma Coffeehouse And Juice Bar is more than just a place to grab a drink; it is an integral part of the Bloomington experience. It successfully bridges the gap between the traditional, cozy coffee shop aesthetic and the modern demand for fresh, healthy, and ethically sourced refreshments. The commitment to quality ingredients, combined with a deep understanding of community needs, ensures that every visit is both satisfying and restorative. Whether your goal is to fuel a long study session with a robust espresso or to cleanse your palate with a freshly pressed green juice, Soma on Kirkwood Avenue remains a definitive destination in the city.
The Semantic Value of Soma: For search engines and users alike, Soma represents a high-value local entity characterized by quality coffee, fresh juices, and a central Bloomington location. Its consistent positive reputation across these key areas reinforces its authority as a premier local spot. The combination of artisanal coffee preparation and vibrant juice offerings creates a unique semantic fingerprint that distinguishes it clearly from single-focus competitors. I used to come here all the time when I lived near Bloomington and I loved the vibe. I was in the area (ie 3 hours away and made the extra drive haha) so I stopped by yesterday and this morning and the coffee is still amazing.
The staff were all super friendly and answered all my questions. My friend ordered a single shot of espresso on ice and they offered to give him an extra shot for free which I thought was nice.
They've taking good health safety precautions by removing all the tables and seating inside and leaving hand sanitizer by the front door. They do have tables outside and have signs indicating whether they've been sanitized between customers which I thought was really nice.
They do request that customers wear masks inside but they didn't turn away customers that weren't wearing masks.
I'm so sad I live so far away from soma but I will definitely make an effort to stop by any time I'm nearby.

I've had coffee at many different places, but I must say that the coffee at Soma Coffeehouse was the very best I have ever had!!! Not only was the atmosphere funky and fun, but the baristas were extremely talented and knowledgeable about coffee.

Anytime I am lucky enough to visit Bloomington, I go to this coffee shop. It has been here forever and is a staple in the community.
Does that mean the coffee is “meh” and the food is “so-so”? Absolutely NOT.
The baked goods that are available are delicious and nutritious (as best they can be considering they are indulgent foods).
The coffee is creative and enjoyable.
The atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking for an escape from solid colored corporate chain coffee shops that are absolutely soul sucking and terrible for your mental health.
Go to Soma. Bring a book. Recharge.

Atmosphere and drink were good but a staff member was super rude and treated me like she’s hated me her whole life - literally never met this person before. I wish I could remember her name, I’d bet I’m not the first customer she’s treated like that. I won’t ever return here because of her poor service.

Epitome of Bloomington charm/weirdness. Good for them for being over the top bold in decorating. Pretty good chocolate cream cheese muffin. In a basement with low ceiling, uncomfortable for tall guys, and bathroom is even more so. Shares building with a record store and Laughing Planet-- enjoy coffee and a burrito at the same time.

Great people here. And our drinks were top notch. The problem we experienced was the strong smell of urine around the front door and patio. Pretty rough.

I appreciate a coffee house that gets creative with its menu, and Soma has a great list of specialty drinks to compliment the standard coffee options. Bonus: Lots of their coffees are fair trade and juices are all organic. It looks like customers are welcome to get cozy and hang out, but the interior is very dark. So if that’s not your thing, there’s plenty of outdoor seating with cafe tables and picnic benches.

A fun spot on campus with excellent coffee and perfect friendly service. Got a double cortado and they absolutely nailed it. I barely had time to admire the fish tank with how fast my order was ready.

Cozy little basement coffee shop with a quiet room in the back to plug up your laptop and charge your phone while you study or read. The the espresso drinks are good, but the flavor of the coffee was better years ago, so something has changed. As I stated the coffee is still good. Some of the baristas put more care, into your drink than others. Overall a refreshing break from corporate Starbucks. Between me and you, they must do something about that bathroom, but it is functional.

The coffee is good but is it a requirement for the staff to be unfriendly? I'm trying to support local here but sheesh a hello or smile goes a long way lol

I came here with a group of friends and it was so cute, supportive, and inclusive! I got the Oahu with whipped cream on top and it was delicious. Plus, the service was amazing. Not sure of her name but a girl with short hair here was so sweet and easy to talk to while ordering. I didn’t get anything apart from the coffee but my friends all loved it. Also, the interior was so cute and cozy!!

Our favorite coffee company at IU Bloomington! Great coffee. My favorite is the triple macchiato! The space, however, is kind of dumpy. I appreciate eclectic, but this place could use a clean up and better organization. A fresh styling? And the food wrapped in plastic on wire shelving isn’t very appealing nor sanitary seeming.

Five stars is for coffee. I did not get any food. This was my first time at this location. I've had coffee at a different Soma before and the coffee is excellent at both locations. I like this one for the unique decor. The interior is decorated very cool giving off the small coffee shop vibe. Stop in for a good cup of coffee!

Great location. Staff is nice. Their coffee might be good, but it's hard to tell as it's really really weak. I ended up not finishing my americano, but I was already several blocks away on fooot, so I didn't go back. I am from Seattle, so maybe my standards are different, but an americano with a splash of cream should still be coffee-colored. It looks like they have lots of super sweet melted milkshake-style drinks for the college/charbucks crowd, and they are popular, even when school is out of session, so I assume those drinks are really good! I'll try again next time I am around and pay for an extra shot.
